Description: This session will focus on different ways to teach, instruct, and assess writing and reading in history. Specific strategies that will be addressed are document analysis, paraphrasing, and small group instruction. This session will also give some ideas on how to assess reading and writing in the history classroom. We will learn strategies of paraphrasing and close reading that are outlined in Christopher Lehman's book Energize Research: Reading and Writing.
