Description: This session will provide a hands-on example of curriculum re-designed to integrate CCSS. Our project will focus on 3D geometry, rates, and unit conversions in multiple dimensions. Specifically, the task involves a gardening project that includes finding the dimensions of planter boxes, calculating volume in multiple units, calculating the cost of soil, converting between cubic yards and cubic feet, and much more. This lesson is part of a 4 week 3D geometry unit.
Take-Aways: We will demonstrate a way to develop a cluster of common core lessons with an existing framework or unit of study. Participants can expect to leave with an example of a lesson that weaves a few common core standards together in a meaningful way.
