Description: With 150 to 160 students to teach, the secondary teacher has a great challenge to actually achieve differentiation in the classroom. If we were candid about it, differentiation goes by the wayside first in most heterogeneous classrooms due to in-class management challenges. However, differentiation in an online environment is more manageable because the student can access the instructional material at his/her own pace and timing. With learning management systems such as Schoology, students can be tracked with analytic data that can provide formative assessments. The teacher can develop her/his own differentiated materials or rely on an increasing number of websites that have developed such materials.
Take-Aways: A handout will be given to participants citing sources and urls along with an outline of the presentation.
